Bacon Bacon Bacon. Sensational best bacon I've ever had in a restaurant. Best Pancakes also. And the turkey Club is exceptional.

Original pancake house is a solid place and granted you pay a little more for your breakfast but you get a nice portion! I had eggs, bacon and pancakes. The eggs where more than you pay for! Like 4 eggs! The bacon is super thick, tasty and crispy...perfect!!! The pancakes where fluffy and tasty! I'd do like this place in comparison to the one at hone which I find the portion sizes smaller and I'm not a fan of! Yeah I definitely stop on back in this pancake house for breakfast anytime!

As I sat at my table, I felt sorry for the people eating across the street at Perkins because they were missing out on some absolutely phenomenal food. I ordered the corned beef hash, eggs and pancakes. It came out quick hot and delicious. Even though it was my liking for hash that got me excited about my meal it was the Pancakes that stole the show. They were better than any pancake I've had in a long time. I would definitely eat here again if my travels bring me back and recommend anybody to eat here for breakfast.

When you ask for a cup of coffee at these types of places you'll get the watery cup, an average cup, or a great cup. This places serves a great cup of coffee and with real cream. Perfect. The service was great, the kind of service I'm used to getting in other parts of the country. Probably the best service I have gotten in a restaurant since moving to So Dak. My waitress was a true gem. Attentive, kind, efficient, but not hovering over me. I was happy to leave over 20% tip. I wish I could remember her name. Their omelettes are HUUUGe. My husband can pack some food, and he was a happy guy with his choice. The place was very clean and a lot nicer than what it appears on the outside. The pancakes were moist and fresh. Very rich and tasty, I'm not a big pancake eater but I stole a few bites from my husband and was impressed. Perfectly cooked eggs. Baby friendly. The downside: Their hashbrowns were like a SD resident who has been cooped up in their house all winter and then decides to go for a jog in Florida: pale and greasy. They need to change their menu and call the stuff "hashminusbrown". What a disappointment. So bland, oily, no crisp whatsoever. The biscuits. UGH. They tasted like licking the back of a fridge. I didn't eat mine. Probably some of the worst biscuits I've had in my life. Overall, this is a great little place and I will be coming back. You should too, just know what to avoid and specify extra crispy when you order any of their hashminusbrown.

The food is amazing here. I had an omelette with a side of bacon. Wow, the bacon was great. Thick and flavorful. The service is a little slow but the food is well worth the wait.

I lived in Sioux Falls for seven years and some how, some way had never visited the Original Pancake House....And I was missing out! A group of us went there for brunch and I was amazed by the speed of the service as well as the food. The omelets were huge, easily filled a 10 inch dinner plate. The pancakes were a 6-8 inch size and scrumptious! I ordered the egg benedict and it came classically prepared to perfection. Pricing was very affordable and the options were endless. This is a solid breakfast joint and you should check it out and not make the same mistake I did by just driving by.

If you are ever in Sioux Falls, SD and your craving breakfast, this is the place to go! Everything is homemade and fresh. I had the banana pancakes with their tropical syrup and it was a beautiful combination. The syrup has a fresh citric taste to it that compliments the pancake very well. Wear your stretchy pants or be prepared to go up a notch in your belt because the portions are pretty big even for this Texans standards.

Staying in town four days. Walked into Perkins and found a rude hostess. So, we found The Original Pancake House on Yelp. Our first time eating at an OPH. Great breakfast! Great waitress! We will definitely be back.
Great breakfast menu with lots of choices at a good price. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere for pancakes with the family or business coffee meeting. The staff were courteous and efficient.

This is a breakfast staple in our family! We always order the same things: Eggs Benedict, Banana French Toast, Bacon Pancakes, Chunky Monkey. Great coffee, great service, and the prices are in line with Perkins and other similar restaurants. Always suggest call ahead seating! Lengthy wait times for those who don't call ahead.

I agree with my fellow Yelpers... Great bacon. It's thick cut and smoky in flavor. I had the western omelette with pancakes. Waaaayyyyy too much food. I didn't eat it all and I have a hearty appetite. The pancakes were good too. This place wasn't what I expected... Looks more like a country lodge inside with rustic wood trimmed bookshelves and ornate carpeting. I judge my breakfast spots on the coffee and that's why this place only got 4 stars. Tasted like folgers which 2 packets of sugar and real cream couldn't fix the awful flavor.

We went there on Mother's Day with a group of 4. The wait was an understandable 45 minutes with it being noon on a holiday, on a Sunday... I really wasn't that impressed with the food. I got the Sant Fe omelette with pancakes. Their were a few pieces of eggshell in it but despite that, it tasted pretty bland on its own without condiments. The pancakes were bland too. The whipped cream had a weird taste, like a chemical or something. The menu was pretty weak. I liked that they had lunch options but breakfast choices were pretty limited. Omelettes came with pancakes or toast. Some people like hash browns and toast with their eggs. Heck some people, dare I say, even like potatoes. If you want these things at the OPH, it'll be extra. OJ...that'll be $4. Cottage cheese, for the love of God...$4. Our waitress gets a pass for not being polite given the holiday but the last thing I expect is to sit there for an hour or so waiting on YOU. The table turnaround was horrible and I'm not sure the long wait really had anything to do with the holiday....

I truly have never had a better pancake. The environment is relaxing (it feels like grandma's house) although, during the busy hours of 10 a.m. and noon it can sometimes feel chaotic. The thick-sliced bacon is phenomenal. Try it with a short stack of bacon pancakes and cup of coffee.

We LOVE this place. The bacon... The pancakes... It is all delicious. I often order the potato pancakes, but I always always have at least one bite of my son's pancakes. They are the best ever. My only complaint is a certain waiter (James, our enemy) who we have had more than once with just terrible experiences. (One time even got us gift cards and a sincere apology from the manager.) Avoid him - he is the worst - and enjoy your food!

There's always a long wait, but there's a good reason why. If you muster the patience to wait you'll be rewarded with: amazing thick cut maple bacon in generous portions; fabulous pancakes; delicious, perfectly moist, cream filled crepes; homemade corned beef hash and amazing egg dishes. You will never see the bottom of your coffee cup! Service is somewhat rushed but efficient. A great family restaurant.

Better than expected. They handled last minute accommodations & increase in party-size, very well. The pancakes were amazing! Probably the best pancakes I've ever had & the slices of bacon were so thick! Must be how it's done in Sioux Falls, I just don't know- but I'm looking forward to another visit when I come back!

So yummy! I have allergies to gluten and dairy and they take care of me every time! My husband and I always share the same thing. A Santa Fe omelet no cheese add bacon. He gets the gluten-free blueberry pancakes and a side of extra crispy hash browns. And it tastes amazing every time! Love the consistency, the atmosphere and the food!

Came with a party of four on a Saturday morning. Wait time was about thirty minutes. The waiting lobby was full and overflowing. Once seated we were attended to right away and orders were taken in about five minutes. Coffee was better than many other regular coffee places. It did not taste stale or reheated in a microwave as it does in IHOP. We ordered Santa fey and Greek omelette and also kosher corn beef. All three dishes were real good portions. They were warm and had good taste. The servers were very efficient and didn't let us go without any coffee or water for even a minute. And even though they were busy they did not rush. Very courteous. Surprisingly the ticket was also very reasonable. All of us ate and then had left overs for little over ten dollars per person. I wish they had buzzers for those waiting. Also chairs were a little cramped. But service was very good. We will return.

Great Swedish pancakes and egg omelettes. They have so many varieties of choices of different Belgian waffles, Crepes, pancakes, egg omelettes. We got the Irish omelette and Swedish pancakes and it was really satisfying. Portions are huge so you may want to consider one omelette and one pancake order for every 2 people. Service is great, food is fresh, and they have locations all over the world. Come here for an awesome breakfast.

Someone said you couldn't be seated until whole party was there ....3 out of our 6 were there and we were seated right away. Maybe it's different on sat/sun when they are busy? Service was fantastic! Our beverages were alway filled, very attentive. Portions were very large and food was great. Have to point out that the Bacon was awesome!!!

This place is always busy which is a testament to how good their food is. I've had their banana pancakes and they were delicious. The menu has an extensive selection and the wait staff is exceptionally friendly and provides very reliable service. The price is comparable to Perkins or IHOP but the food you get is a much higher quality. If you're ever in Sioux Falls and are looking for a place to eat breakfast, this is the place.

This has turned into quite the standard go-to when I visit Sioux Falls. It's easy and everyone leaves happy. Even after mom managed to knock over TWO glasses of water in one fell swoop (you really should have seen it...even the creamer was upside down in its dish, but otherwise unspilled), the servers were very friendly. This time we were there on a Monday morning, rather than the usual Sunday-after church-time, so we got right in and had great service. The servings are not HUGE, which is nice, so eating an entire platter of 3 pancakes and a side of bacon is not a big deal. The coffee is great and I hate to admit how much I really like the heavy whipping cream as creamer for the coffee. Yup, I know we'll be back. And I know it'll be consistent.

Was better than expectations. Very good food and had very good service as well. The chocolate chip pancakes where amazing. Only bad part about breakfast is that my girlfriend might have stiffed the waiter on the tip for how good he was, but other than that highly recommended from this guy.

Why can't Sioux Falls get anything new on the breakfast front that is not a chain? There are over 100 of these restaurants nationwide. I want the opportunity to support something special and unique, not some crazy huge company like this. Sorry, off the soap-box. As for the actual review, I was satisfied but not impressed. I got the blueberry pancakes and some eggs because I couldn't find something that I really wanted so I just threw some things together. The pancakes were good, but they really just tasted like sugar with no real blueberry flavor to them. I only ended up eating one of my 2 eggs because the first one tasted weird. Overall, not the greatest of experiences. Oh, and they also have an actual meal which consists of 7 thick cut strips of bacon with hashbrowns on the side for $11... come on America.

OPH has turned into a once a week occurrence for us. We enjoy the great spirit of the hostess, the excellent service, and best of all some of the finest breakfast entrees available in Sioux Falls. Treat yourself, and your family, go to OPH, and like us this will become one of your regular stops.

The best breakfast in Sioux Falls! Everything is made with high quality ingredients, down to the butter and whipped topping. Portions are huge, and I've never had anything I didn't like. The specialty pancakes (the apple and lemon butter pancakes) are quite an experience. If you get an omelet, be prepared to take half of it home unless you're really hungry.

Had the Apple Pancake and it was fantastic. Two can share this really. Our kids had the Chunky Monkey cakes and they are those up as well. Longish wait for those with big parties.

I would have given the Original Pancake House five stars, but we had somewhat mixed service. We were admittedly high maintenance when we arrived, because we had a party of nine or ten, but only three of us were there at the beginning. The hostess was amazing to us! She was friendly, kept us informed, checked on us and brought us coffee while we waited for everyone else. We just loved her! But once we were seated, our service took a loooooooooong time. We waited to order and then we waited and waited and waited for our food. My SIL said she had been there a week before with just as big of a group, and the place was even busier, and they were in and out like that, so I imagine our experience was unusual, or, at least, not what they are capable of. The food was absolutely delicious! Every single one of us loved what he or she ordered. I had the continental crepes, which include three crepes with sour cream and triple sec (!). I also ordered bacon, and I asked for it "almost black" in order to try to get it crispy. It WAS crispy and delicious. My husband had the Irish "souffle" omelet (their omelets are puffier than those one usually sees), which included corned-beef in the mix. He said it was amazing, but huge, especially since pancakes are included in the order. He normally does not like pancakes, but he couldn't stop eating them because he said they were so good. He also ordered a side of hash browns with melted cheddar cheese, and these, too, were huge! Lesson: They don't do "small" here, so if you order sides along with your breakfast, have someone to share them with. Others got the eggs Benedict, the cherry crepes, and the Scottish oatmeal. The kiddos got the chunky monkey pancakes (banana pancakes with chocolate chip garnish and chocolate sauce), which looked so good, I wanted some! We will definitely be back! This was some of the best breakfast I've ever had!

Excellent all around; good portion sizes and well made food. This restaurant offers much of the standard fare for brunch/breakfast places like this and the menu is wide and varied. Multiple omelet and pancake/waffle options were there, as well as other meat options (I had the corned beef hash with poached eggs). The fruits accompanying the food was fresh and the orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. Overall, my group enjoyed this very much. Expect to wait 10+ minutes in most cases for most group sizes as this place was fairly busy. This place was tasty and I would go back.

This is our favorite breakfast place in town. It's always busy on Sunday mornings, but the wait usually it's too long; approx 20 mins or less. I have had the Eggs Florentine which is the absolute best in town - I've tried others and nothing compares. I've also had the Apple Pancake which is like one big giant pancake baked with appes and cinnamon. It's good, but I probably wont order it again because it's so big and I got sick of it after the first few bites. My husband has ordered the omelets with pancakes twice and they've both been really good. The coffee is delicious - served with real cream. We would choose to eat here over any other breakfast place in town. There's many items to choose from: crepes, waffles, pancakes, omelets, speciaty items, weekly specials, and more...

Best breakfast in Sioux Falls...maybe even South Dakota. Sorry Tally's Silver Spoon. Gotta love a restaurant that coordinates their coffee, bacon and pancake syrup to tastily compliment each other. OPH's bacon, supplied by Jones Dairy Farm, is the best bacon we have ever eaten. It is thick, expertly cooked for crispness on the outside and chewy smoked applewood goodness on the inside. The coffee, custom blended by Boyd's Coffee in Seattle just for OPH, is silky smooth when paired with a packet of sugar and a bit of creme from the silver cup that is provided. The pancakes are smaller than the head-sized monstrosities that other big box places slam on your table yet they are fluffy brown and the in-house created syrup is sweet without tasting like you're gnawing on a maple sapling. The atmosphere is country home pleasant without feeling like a marketing ploy. The silverware, plates and glasses are like the food...hearty solid fare. Try the $10.99 special, two eggs, two hearty strips of that special bacon, a mountain of hash browns and three grapefruit sized pancakes. While you're at it pick up a bag of that coffee too. You won't be sorry for eating at Original Pancake House.

We decided to go have breakfast as a fam on Sat. morning and the place was packed! We had to wait about 20 min, but they had free coffee for those waiting which helped. I ordered the eggs florentine (like eggs benedict but with out the ham and it had spinach and tomato). It was delish! The hubs ordered the french toast and my girls split a belgian waffle with fresh strawberries. Everything was awesome and service was fantastic!! I have to go again and try the crepes!

My dad always used to say that if a gang of old people are in a restaurant, it must be good. I don't necessarily always agree with him (frankly with a lot of things; he's great though) and never understood the theory (don't you lose taste as you age?). But yes, there were a gang of old fogies and the food was pretty good. Apparently, this is a franchise with a couple in the Bay Area (San Jose). But I guess I had to go all the way to South Dakota to try one out. This place had a mega selection of pancakes. There were "healthy" wheat germ type pancakes, potato pancakes, and some pretty innovative ones too like the bacon embedded pancakes and the coconut pancakes. I had one of their featured breakfasts called the "Dutch Baby." I would analogize it to a large, powdered sugary, baked, circular French toast measuring almost a foot in diameter with an eggy, buttery flavor dashed with lemon. It's served with extra powdered sugar, butter, and lemon slices on the side. It was okay but I prefer my French toast grilled not baked. The powdered sugar was plentiful and got a little messy but I preferred the "baby" with maple syrup. Their flavorful "special recipe" sausage patty was perfect--not too salty or greasy. My server was nice and attentive but my Bigelow tea variety set came with tepid instead of boiling water. In a nutshell, I enjoyed my breakfast and would give it another shot. Honey factor: 4.

I would go here again in a heartbeat. I must say, I have a pretty large appetite and when I ordered the Western Omelette it was HUGE and came with pancakes on the side! I was here with a party of five and everyone enjoyed their meals. Food was excellent. On a side note, they start you with coffee cups on the table and come with a pot asking if you would like any...just know that this is charged on your tab if you accept.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Delicious. Real butter, cream, fresh bread, best ingredients. Company has been around since 1953 and has locations in most states and in Asia! They've got perfection down to an art. The Souflé omelet with thick bacon I had stood about 1 1/14 inches high and about 5 inches in diameter. Great omelet. Came with 3 Buttermilk pancakes. Nice touch. Also delicious. My wife had the pecan pumpkin pancakes with bits of pecans on top. I think she cleaned the plate! We shared slams hash browns which were also very good. They have every pancake you can imagine from Buttermilk to Pecan to Wheat to flapjacks to Belgian waffles galore. You won't be disappointed. Open 6-3 daily. We WILL be back tomorrow morning.

Excellent. I very much enjoyed breakfast here. Food was fantastic. Service was warm and personable. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in Sioux Falls South Dakota.

OPH has turned into a once a week occurrence for us. We enjoy the great spirit of the hostess, the excellent service, and best of all some of the finest breakfast entrees available in Sioux Falls. Treat yourself, and your family, go to OPH, and like us this will become one of your regular stops.

This was my 3rd time eating here. The food is always tremendous! This time, the service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was only half full

Gluten free pancakes and the super thick bacon are treats worth traveling for!

The original pancake house is open only to around 3pm. We went for breakfast and eveything was good. Good service, good food. Also reasonable prices.

Pumpkin pecan pancakes were perfection. Bacon may be my favorite ever eaten at a restaurant. Eggnog French toast was delicious. Will eat here again soon. Super worth the 30 minute wait. Yum!

This is the best breakfast in Sioux Falls. Everything is made fresh. Try the berry pancakes with fresh berries (not frozen) and homemade whipped cream!!!

Great atmosphere and coffee.
